What is language localization on Facebook?
In a nutshell, language localization on Facebook is a type of Facebook campaign that allows you to automatically (or semi-automatically) launch ads to specific speech and language areas within multiple counties, regions and countries.
What happens if you do not use language localization on Facebook?
When people see an ad that’s not in their native tongue, they perceive it as a “general” ad and ignore it. Not because they don’t want to click on it, but because their mind processes them as less relevant than ads in their native language.
Users are blind to ads that are not written in their own language. Additionally, people are more likely to engage with popular brands not just because they created a campaign using their language, but because that clearly proves that those brands care about them.
In short, without Facebook means you are missing out on so many opportunities. With multi-language ads Facebook unlocks a lot of possibilities in terms of reach.
Create a boosted post in multiple languages
To boost a post in multiple languages:
1. Go to your Page. Select Settings in the top right. Make sure that you’re in General settings.
2. Look for the Post in multiple languages setting. If it’s turned off, select Edit. Select the box next to Allow people who manage this page to write posts in multiple languages. Select Save changes.
3. Go back to your Page and select Posts on the left. When you start to write the post, + Write post in another language should appear in grey below your post.
4. Add text to your post in the Default language.
5. Select + Write post in another language, then choose a language from the Select drop-down menu. Repeat to add as many languages as you want. Some languages translate automatically. If you’d like, you can edit the translated text.
6. Select Photo/Video to add images or a video. The same images or video will appear for every language. You can’t add different images or videos for different languages.
7. Select Boost post and follow the steps to create a boosted post.
You’ve created a boosted post in multiple languages.
We review boosted posts before they’re published and let you know when they’re approved. You can also check your approval status in Ads Manager.
Create dynamic ads for multiple languages and countries
Dynamic ads are a good fit for businesses that have catalogues to hold their inventory, such as online retailers or travel agencies. If you add country and language information to your catalogue, you can create dynamic ads can show people items from your catalogue in the correct language, currency or both. This means that you don’t need to create separate catalogues for each language or country.
