What is a Blog Post?

A blog post is published information that usually entertains or educations.

Bloggers often seek the attention of a target audience. That audience is seeking answers to the questions they’re asking or they’re simply looking for information that is entertaining to them.

Good blog posts often fulfil one of the two while the best are often both educational and entertaining.

Many times a blog post answers a question the audience is asking. In this case it’s best to provide the best answer possible. That often involves researching the topic, collecting information to include in the post (likes stats, survey results, test results, etc.), citing that information and providing context to what the information means for the reader and how they can use it.

The structure of a blog post

  • Headline
  • Publish date

  • Sub-headlines
  • Main content
  • Bolded text
  • Bulleted/numbered lists
  • Media

What Are the Elements of the Best Blog Posts?

The best blog posts are made up of 2 key elements.

First, they provide valuable, quality content that your audience loves to read, engage with, and share. This increases your brand’s credibility and trust so that you get better quality leads and customers.

Second, great blog posts rank on Google and align to fit SEO algorithms. This helps your business rank much higher on Google search engine results pages so that your customers can find you more easily. SEO-optimized blog posts written by an SEO content writer draw in more visitors and potential leads to your website, which of course means more sales.
