Make a video-sized impact without a video-sized budget
Facebook slideshow ads are video-like ads that use motion, sound and text to tell your story beautifully across devices. They load quickly, so they play well on every connection speed.
Unlike some video ads, slideshow ads are quick and affordable to create. You can create a slideshow ad in minutes from desktop or mobile and use it to tell a story that develops over time. You can even create a slideshow ad out of stock images available in the ad creation process, or use an existing video.
When are slideshow ads your best option?
If you need to create an immersive experience quickly.
· Slideshow ads are easy to make and edit with low production costs, but they have most of the experiential benefits of video.
If you want to make great ads directly from your Page or phone.
· Choose from free stock images, rich video-editing tools and a wide range of music.
If you want to simplify a complex process or narrative.
· When walking people through sequences or steps, images can help you show rather than tell.
If you need to reach people with slower connections.
· Slideshow ads use five times less data than videos. You can use a slideshow version of your video ads in markets where people have slower connections and older devices.
Before you begin
Use high-quality images for slideshow ads. Your images should be at least 1,080 x 1,080 pixels and have an aspect ratio of either 16:9 or 1:1. If your images are different sizes, they are automatically cropped to 16:9 or 1:1.
Create eye-catching slideshows from photos that you already have
Highlight your benefits
If your business has more than one benefit, use Slideshow to highlight each of them. Focus on showing one benefit per image by selecting a photo that communicates it clearly. Complement images by adding text to your slide show that is short and reinforces each benefit. Make sure that you keep the text in the same place on each photo so people don’t have to search where to read.
Show off your products
If you sell a physical object, keep it simple and show your audience exactly what you sell. Show off multiple styles of the same product or different products by using a short duration per image to grab attention. Keep the product in the same place on each image to minimise movement between frames.
Show how it works
If your business is a service or an app, Slideshow is a great way to explain and demonstrate how your product or business works. Your first image should provide context that it’s an ad for an app – consider showing the app logo or a phone with your app opened on the first screen, then go step by step. Select one photo that represents each step of the process. Keep the images simple and ensure that there is some space on the image to add text.
Tell your business story
Does your business have a story that sets you apart from your competition? Tell that story with several images. Identify the key parts of your business’s story that will resonate with your audience, and select one image to visualise each phase. You can play around with the order of the story, but it’s best to choose a few words for each image to communicate your message.
How to create a Slideshow ad
You can create a Slideshow ad via the Ads Manager.
1. Go to your Ads Manager and select an objective. Slideshow ads are available in all objectives.
2. If you wish to run your Slideshow ads on Instagram, choose from the objectives Traffic, Conversions, App Installs, or Video Views.
3. Add your targeting, budgeting, and scheduling information, and click “continue.”
4. Click the ad format “Slideshow”
5. Next, click “Create slideshow”
6. Add 3 to 10 images in a video of up to 15 seconds long.
7. Click the “Browse library” option to add your ad assets.
8. Click “Create Slideshow” and the Ads Manager will begin processing the slideshow and notifies you when it’s finished. The process may take 2 minutes.
9. Choose the thumbnail you want your ad to feature.
10. You can add your own text/captions on the ad, you can even include captions in multiple languages with your video by uploading a SubRip (.srt) file with it.
11. Include the text, a CTA button, a headline, and any other ad details and click confirm.
