You can create video ads in Ads Manager that run on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Audience Network.

Before you begin

  • You can use video ads with multiple objectives. To reach people most likely to watch your video, we recommend the Video Views objective.
  • Use a supported file format and make sure that your video meets the minimum specifications needed to deliver your ad successfully.
  • You can create a video ad in Ads Manager using the steps below. You can also boost a post that includes a video from a Facebook Page.

To create a video ad in Ads Manager

  1. Go to Ads Manager.
  2. Click + Create.
  3. Choose an objective that supports video and then click Continue.
  4. Choose your audience, placements and optimisation, and then click Continue.
    Notes:
    • By default, Automatic placements is selected. This means that your ads will show automatically across eligible placements. To edit the placements where your ads may appear, click Manual placements.
    • If your objective is Video Views, you have the option to optimise your delivery for either ThruPlay or 2-second continuous video views. You can also choose which bid type you’d like.
  5. In the Format section, click Carousel or Single image or video. If your objective is Video Views, your only format option is Single Video. To use the carousel format, choose a different objective.
  6. Upload your video in Ads Manager.
    • If your format is Single image or video: Click Add Media, then click Add Video and select your video from your library. Click Upload to upload a new video. To create a video using the Video Creation Kit, choose Create Video.
    • If your format is Carousel: Scroll to the Ad creative section and click Video/Slideshow. Then, click Select Video to upload a video or select a video from your library. To create a new video, select Create Video. Do this for each carousel card you wish to include in your ad.
  7. Click Edit Video to crop or trim the video and customise a thumbnail image. You can also add captions, text overlays and logo overlays. Note that all options may not be available when including a video as part of a carousel.
  8. Add your text, links and tracking. When you’ve finished, click Confirm to publish the video ad.

Video ads allow you to show off your product, service or brand using a video. You can create video ads from Ads Manager or boost a post that includes a video from your Facebook Page.

You can use video ads to:

  • Show off your product, service or brand in new ways. Use a video to show unique features or tell your brand story.
  • Capture attention quickly. Create videos that are 15 seconds or less to captivate your audience and keep them engaged.
  • Deliver a single message. Convey a clear, simple message that makes people take action, such as buying a specific product or visiting your website.

You can create video ads using multiple objectives. Video ads appear in multiple placements across Facebook, Instagram, Audience Network and Messenger and support a variety of aspect ratios depending on the placement. Different placements allow different video lengths, although shorter videos are usually more engaging on mobile devices. When you create video ads, you can upload your own video or create a video from images using our video creation tools.

Note that you can use the same video with multiple placements and ratios by using the asset customisation feature in Ads Manager.
