Facebook Ad Account Access Levels
25.05.2022
If you want to manage your ads with other people, you can add them to your ad account. You can give people the following roles based on what permissions you’d like them to have:
- Ad account admin: Facebook Ad account admins can create, edit and view ads, check ad reports, modify payment methods and manage admin permission to this Facebook Ad account. Keep in mind that if you give someone admin access, she will be able to remove you from the Ads Manager. So this access level should be avoided if you invite an agency or freelancer to your Ads Manager account.
- Ad account advertiser: In most cases, this is the access level you should provide to someone who you invite to your Facebook ads account. An ad account advertiser can set up new campaigns, modify ads so basically everything that is necessary for running ads on Facebook.
- Ad account analyst: If you want someone to have access to your Facebook ad account but you don’t want him or her to edit ads or start or stop Facebook campaigns, then add him as an ad account analyst. He will have a view access level on your Facebook ad account.
The table below outlines the three ad account roles (across) and what they’re able to do (down):
Admin | Advertiser | Analyst | |
View ads | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
Access reports | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
Create and edit ads | ✓ | ✓ | |
Edit payment method | ✓ | ||
Manage admin permissions | ✓ |
Remember, it’s against our Terms of Service and Community Standards to share your Facebook account and/or create inauthentic profiles that you manage with multiple people. Add people to your ad account so you can work on Facebook ads together with other people in your business. The people you add won’t be able to log in as you or see things on your profile or News Feed that you haven’t shared with them.
To add someone to your ad account:
- Go to Ads Manager settings. You may be asked to re-enter your password.
- Under Ad account roles, select Add people.
- Enter the name or email address of the person you want to give access to.
- Use the drop-down menu to choose their role and then click Confirm.
The person you add will have immediate access to your ad account according to the role that you chose for them. You can always change their permissions or remove a person from your ad account by selecting Remove user that’s next to their name.
How To Add People To Facebook Ads Manager?
Here is how to add people to Facebook Ads manager:
- Open the Facebook Ads Manager (link: https://www.facebook.com/ads/manager/)
- Click on the menu on the top left corner
- Select ‘Ad Account Settings’
- Click on ‘Add People’
- Enter the name of the person
- Choose their role on the Ads Manager (see role explanation below)
- Click on ‘Confirm’.
If you followed along, your friend should receive a notification that you granted them a notification to this Facebook Ad Account. They can either accept or reject it.
Can’t Add Users To Facebook Ad Account
What if you can’t add users to Facebook Ads Manager?
There are two main reasons why you can’t give access to the Facebook Ads Manager/Ad Account.
- First, you have to be the admin in the Ads Manager or in the Business Manager. Only admins can give or remove access on any Facebook business assets.
- Secondly, the person you invite to the Facebook Ad Account must also have a personal Facebook profile. You also have to be on Facebook to be able to use its business assets like the Ads Manager.
If the person doesn’t have a Facebook Ad Account, here you can find a tutorial on how to create a Facebook profile and still stay anonymous.
