Installing the Pixel

Facebook allows you to manually add pixel code to your website, or you can connect your site using one of Facebook’s many partners, including Squarespace, WordPress, Shopify, and others.
- Go to Events Manager.
- Click the Data Sources icon on the left side of the page.
- Select the pixel you want to set up.
- Click Continue Pixel Setup.
- Select Facebook Pixel and click Connect.
- Select Install Code Manually.
- Copy the pixel base code.
- Find the header of your website.
- Paste the base code at the bottom of the header section and above the closing head tag as demonstrated below. You will need this for EVERY page of your website.
- Click Continue.
Optional: Toggle on Automatic Advanced Matching and verify the customer information you want to send.
- Click Continue.
- Add events using the Event Setup Tool or manually add code to your website.
- Finally, click Done.
- Click the Open Event Setup Tool button.
- Choose your Facebook pixel ID, then click Settings and scroll down to Open Event Setup Tool.
- Enter your URL and click Open Website.
Facebook will provide a list of suggested events. Click Review next to each event, then choose to Confirm or Dismiss. Click Finish Setup to continue.
If you’re interrupted in your pixel setup, you can always come back to this later by going to Events Manager.
Confirm your pixel is working with the Facebook pixel helper
Before you start relying on the data from your Facebook pixel, you should confirm that it’s tracking properly.
1. Add the Facebook Pixel Helper extension to your Google Chrome browser. (It’s only available for Chrome, so if you use a different browser, you’ll need to install Chrome to use the Pixel Helper.)
2. Visit the page where you have installed the Facebook pixel. A popup will indicate how many pixels it finds on the page. The popup will also tell you if your pixel is working properly. If not, it will provide error information so you can make corrections.
