Link Search Console and Google Ads
With the paid & organic report, you can see how often pages from your website are showing in Google’s free organic search results, and which search terms triggered those results to show on the search results page. This information helps you better understand how paid text ads and organic search results work together to help you reach people searching online.
To view the paid & organic report, you must have your Search Console account linked to your Google Ads account. This article shows you how to link the two accounts.
Before you begin
Here are some requirements before you link your Search Console and Google Ads accounts.
- You must have administrative access to the Google Ads account that you want linked to the Search Console account.
- You’ll need a Search Console account. If you don’t have one, you can set one up at anytime on the Search Console site.
- Your account must be listed as an owner of the website associated with the Search Console account, as well an owner of the website associated with the Search Console account.
- If you’re not listed as an owner of the Search Console account, a request for access to the website will be sent to the current owner when you try to link your Google Ads account to the website.
Link your Search Console and Google Ads accounts
Sites you own
If your account has administrative access on the Google Ads account that you want to link to Search Console and is also listed as an owner of the website, you can easily link the two.
- Sign into your Google Ads account.
- Click the tools icon in the upper right corner of your account.
- Under “Setup”, click Linked accounts.
- In the “Linked accounts” section of the page look for “Search Console” using the search bar.
- Under “Search Console”, click Details.
- Scroll down to “Link other sites you own”.
- Under the “Action” column, click Link.
Link Search Console with Google Ads
- Sign into your Google Ads account.
- Click the tools icon in the upper right corner of your account.
- Under “Setup,” click Linked accounts.
- Under “Search Console,” click Details.
- Do one of the following:
- If you don’t have any linked websites, click Link in the dialog box.
- If you already have linked website, click the plus button to create a new link.
- Enter the URL of the website you want to link to your Google Ads account, but make sure that you add one version with “www.” and another version without “www.” (for instance, “www.example.com” as well as “example.com”). You don’t need to specify HTTP or HTTPS.
- Click Link site.
- You’ll then see one of the following:
- If your Google Ads account is listed as an owner of this website on the Search Console account, you’ll see “Linked” in the Status column to show that the link was successfully created.
- If your Google Ads account is not listed as an owner of this website on the Search Console account, you’ll see “Requested” in the Status column. A request for access to the website will be sent to the current owner and the link will be created once the owner grants access.
