Technical task is a formal agreement between you and the contractor that outlines a shared vision for your website or app. Technical task, on the other hand, is more than just a list of product specifications. It’s a document you can use to remind the contractor of their responsibilities and make changes anytime something goes wrong.

So what exactly does a technical task consist of?

  • the main reason for creating the website, such as increasing traffic, sales, or customer base;
  • the company’s mission, products manufactured or sold, target audience;
  • the way customer communications are handled;
  • examples of other websites and designs you like;
  • the company’s corporate style, if you have one, or your idea of what it should be if you don’t;
  • the desired corporate colors, fonts, and slogans;
  • the brand logo (if there is one or if one needs to be designed);
  • your draft proposals (if any), texts, images or videos, and any inspirational resources;
  • content creation (specify whether it’s part of the job or not);

There’s a common opinion that the customer should write a TT by himself, but there are a few flaws with this strategy. Clients frequently have no notion what to put in the TT. So, if the customer does not have a TT, the best approach is to write it together. This is the most practical way to save time and money. This collaboration in order gives an ability to reach a common understanding and a clear idea of how the website or app should look. This approach not only saves time and effort in preparing the TT, but it also has an impact on the end result.

As a result, a TT will assist you in:

  • understanding the type of website you require;
  • requiring the contractor to complete the full volume of work as defined in the TT;
  • managing the web designer’s completion deadlines as specified in the TT;
  • gaining a better understanding of the project’s features and layout based on prototypes developed in the TT

So as you can see one of the most important aspects of future success is effectively drafting the technical task. As a result, its creation should be treated with extreme caution. It is required to conduct research and choose samples of such documents, as well as to provide a clear description of the requirements to the designer. This will ensure that the website runs well and that sales will be high.
