If you’re not using photos in your content, you’re missing out on a huge opportunity to boost engagement, attract a larger audience, and increase conversions. We’re visual creatures who are drawn to content with vibrant, appealing graphics. When it comes to making a purchase decision, adding photographs to an online post can nearly double its views, and more than 60% of shoppers feel visuals are more significant than product descriptions.

Furthermore, visual material is the most effective strategy to gain shares and expand your audience. When compared to merely words, visual information generates more clicks, and nearly 40% of users are more willing to share images and videos. You can also include a link in your social image so that every time it’s shared, it builds backlinks to your site.

Of course, merely adding any image into your post won’t give it immediate success. Images must be carefully chosen and of excellent quality, and they must bring actual value to your text. They should be appealing to the eye, relevant to your business, and acceptable for the marketing channel. The guidelines below will assist you in selecting the best image for your next post.

How to choose the perfect image?

  • When you are picking a photo for your post you should answer the following questions: Does it convey your message? Is it consistent with your brand? Is it interesting?
  • Make a small research and make sure that none of your competitors is using the same or similar image (if you’re using a photo from stock)
  • Colors of image fit your brand

Sizes and quality of images

Images for websites and social media should be at least 72 pixels per inch and 800 x 1,000 pixels, but for exact results, check your content management system to see the actual pixel count for your site’s viewing window, and use that as your minimum image width. It’s fine to go over that limit because most tools automatically shrink the image to fit, but photos that are too large will take longer to load.

Where to find images?

When it comes to adding photographs to your material, you have two options: produce your own or use stock images. When it comes to product marketing, unique photos are often required because customers want to see images of the items they’re purchasing. However, because developing unique photographs can be time-consuming and costly, most businesses use a combination of original and stock photography. So, here’s a collection of photo stock that you could find useful:

  • Pixabay. This photo stock has over 780,000 free photos that you may download in various sizes to suit your needs.
  • Stock Free Image. Another free site that has over a million free photographs and drawings.
  • Shutterstock. Shutterstock requires a subscription, but the quality is often higher, and you get access to over 100 million images, illustrations, and icons.
  • Google and Bing. While you can’t use any image you find on the internet, both major search engines let you filter image search results by usage permissions, allowing you to look for Creative Commons or public domain images.
  • Pexels. Designers, bloggers, and anybody else seeking for visuals can utilize this free stock photo and video website and app to find fantastic photos and movies that can be downloaded and used for free.
  •  iStock. Free, international micro stock picture source that provides millions of images, graphics, clip art, movies, and audio tracks.

Getty Images. With over 415 million assets, including award-winning photos, film, audio, multimedia, and premium digital content, it delivers the most exclusive and distinctive creative and editorial visual content.
